OVERVIEW
Built between 1510 and 1514 without a single nail, the Alcázar was the seat of the Spanish court in the Americas for some sixty years and the place from which several conquests of the mainland were planned. It fell into ruin and was restored in the 1950s as a museum.
HISTORY
The building is the only surviving residence of the Columbus family anywhere.
REPORTED ACTIVITY
Museum staff have reported movement in the upper galleries after closing. Nothing is documented beyond staff accounts.
