OVERVIEW

A Spanish missionary and the island's Arawak community built the first chapel here in 1750. It fell into ruin and the present chapel was built on the same foundations in 1952. A pilgrimage path marked by white crosses leads up to it.

HISTORY

It is known on the island as the Pilgrims' Church and remains in devotional use.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

Visitors describe the hill as unusually quiet and report the sense of a presence on the path. It is a site of active devotion and is treated as such locally.

VISITING
