OVERVIEW

Founded around 1790 by Welsh families who named it "breaking of bread," the settlement grew around a linen-spinning mill before economic decline emptied it by the early 20th century, leaving stone foundations, a mill site, and a small burying ground in the woods.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

Since the mid-20th century, visitors have reported hearing disembodied sounds of horses, farm animals, and voices with no visible source, earning the ruins the nickname "Village of Voices" or "Lost Voices"; the site was eventually closed to casual visitors due to the volume of paranormal tourism.

VISITING

Located on private land; public access has been restricted for years and is not encouraged.
