OVERVIEW

A market and meeting hall given to Boston by merchant Peter Faneuil in 1742, dubbed the "Cradle of Liberty" for the pre-Revolution speeches of Samuel Adams and James Otis; its gilded grasshopper weathervane is a city landmark.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

Staff and visitors report footsteps, cold spots, and a sense of colonial-era figures gathering in the empty upper meeting hall.

VISITING

Open to the public daily as a Freedom Trail site.
