OVERVIEW

A Beacon Hill mansion at 33 Beacon Street connected to the Parkman family; the patriarch, Dr. George Parkman, was murdered in 1849 by Harvard professor John White Webster in a case that gripped the nation, and the house was later left to the city and now serves as its official reception residence.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

Reports describe footsteps, flickering lights, an uneasy presence, and recurring unexplained plumbing floods long attributed by lore to Parkman himself.

VISITING

A city-owned reception house; interior access is by event or arrangement.
