OVERVIEW

A rural stretch of road in Walworth County that became the epicenter of Wisconsin's most famous cryptid legend after a local newspaper began covering witness reports in the late 1980s.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

Witnesses, first chronicled by reporter Linda Godfrey, describe a 6-to-7-foot creature covered in fur, seen moving on both two and four legs, with claw marks reported on vehicles; the case inspired multiple books and a film.

VISITING

A public rural road; the surrounding land is private property.
