OVERVIEW

A famously narrow lane in central Guanajuato where the balconies of two opposing houses stand about a metre and a half apart, close enough to reach across.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

The legend tells of the daughter of a wealthy landowner and the son of a poor miner who met on the facing balconies; on discovering them, her father stabbed her, and her lover took his own life. Visiting couples kiss on the third step to avoid seven years of bad luck.

VISITING

A public alley in the city centre, open at all hours.
