Captain Grant's 1754 Inn
FOLLOWPreston, CT
DIRECTIONS →OVERVIEW
Built in 1754 by Captain William Grant for his wife Mercy in the historic Poquetanuck Village section of Preston, the house sheltered Continental soldiers during the Revolutionary War and later runaway slaves; it has operated as a bed and breakfast for decades.
REPORTED ACTIVITY
The inn's reported spirit, known as Adelaide, is said to be a Grant family descendant awaiting her husband's return from a voyage on which he was lost at sea; guests and staff report a shower curtain repeatedly pulled down, a television turning on by itself, and an apparition of a woman in period dress in the room named for her.
VISITING
An operating bed and breakfast open to overnight guests.
