Deer Park Tavern
FOLLOWNewark, DE
DIRECTIONS →OVERVIEW
A tavern that has occupied its Main Street site since the 1747 St. Patrick's Inn, rebuilt as the current building in 1851; tradition holds that Edgar Allan Poe stumbled in the mud outside the inn after an 1843 lecture and jokingly cursed the place.
REPORTED ACTIVITY
Staff and patrons report unexplained noises and doors opening and closing on their own, particularly in the basement, which many attribute to spirits said to have lingered from the original 18th-century inn.
VISITING
