Devil's Bridge
FOLLOWIndian Town Point, Antigua
DIRECTIONS →OVERVIEW
A natural arch cut by Atlantic surf at Indian Town Point, within a national park. The rock is undercut and the blowholes throw spray high in heavy weather.
HISTORY
The site is one of Antigua's best-known natural landmarks.
REPORTED ACTIVITY
Tradition holds that enslaved people from nearby estates took their own lives here, and that the place is named for that. The tradition is widely repeated on the island; it is not documented in contemporary records, and it is told locally as a memorial rather than as a ghost story.
VISITING
Freely accessible. The rock is genuinely dangerous in swell — people have died going too near the edge.
