Dumas Brothel
FOLLOWButte, MT
DIRECTIONS →OVERVIEW
Built in 1890 by the Nadeau brothers, the Dumas operated in Butte's red-light district from the copper-mining boom until 1982, making it the longest-running brothel in the country. The building, with its tiered floors and basement "cribs," now operates as a museum.
REPORTED ACTIVITY
The spirit of a madam is said to walk the second floor, and visitors describe an oppressive feeling in the basement; the site features on Butte's haunted walking tours.
VISITING
Open to the public as a museum.
