OVERVIEW

The estate house was abandoned around 1822. The account given locally is that a duel between the bridegroom and the best man on the night before the wedding killed both men, and that the bride's family shut the house and left it. The roofless shell and works survive.

HISTORY

The ruin is a listed heritage site and among the most visited on Nevis.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

Eden Brown is the island's best-known haunted site; visitors report cold spots and a presence in the upper rooms. The account of the duel is traditional and not documented in contemporary records.

VISITING

Freely accessible ruin; the structure is unstable in places.
