OVERVIEW

Fort Abraham Lincoln, established in 1872 on the Missouri River, was the post from which Lt. Col. George Armstrong Custer and the 7th Cavalry rode to the 1876 Battle of the Little Bighorn. The Custer House, a faithful 1989 reconstruction, anchors the state park alongside the reconstructed On-A-Slant Mandan village.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

Interpreters and visitors have reported the site as active since the 1989 reconstruction: a woman in a dark dress said to be seen at an upper window, doors and candlesticks that move, cold spots, and footsteps in the barracks. The park hosts a well-known seasonal "Haunted Fort" event.
