DIRECTIONS →OVERVIEW
Established in 1868 at a fort dating to 1833, consolidating several earlier burial grounds from the frontier era; the fort marked an end point of the Trail of Tears and served through decades of Indian Territory military history.
REPORTED ACTIVITY
The cemetery's best-known legend concerns Vivia Thomas, buried in 1870, said to have disguised herself as a man to follow a former fiance into the Army, only to kill him after discovering his betrayal and later die keeping vigil at his grave; her spirit is reported near the officers' circle.
