OVERVIEW
Built in 1787 during the Swedish period, when St. Barthélemy was a free port and a centre of regional trade — including, for a time, the slave trade. The ramparts, guns and oven survive beside the lighthouse.
HISTORY
Sweden held the island from 1784 until it was sold back to France in 1878.
REPORTED ACTIVITY
The site carries local ghost stories tied to the Swedish garrison. They are anecdotal.
VISITING
