DIRECTIONS →OVERVIEW
Established in 1834 as the fur-trading post Fort William and converted to a U.S. military post in 1849, Fort Laramie was a major stop on the Oregon, California, and Mormon trails and a key site in Plains history; it is preserved by the National Park Service.
REPORTED ACTIVITY
Its best-known legend is the "Lady in Green," said to ride a black stallion along the trail east of the fort; visitors also describe figures and sounds near Old Bedlam, the oldest standing building in Wyoming.
