OVERVIEW

A rocky hill anchoring the Union left, defended on July 2, 1863 in the celebrated stand of Col. Joshua Chamberlain and the 20th Maine, whose bayonet charge repelled repeated Confederate assaults.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

A durable Gettysburg legend holds that reenactors during an 1990s film shoot were aided by a ragged soldier who handed out ammunition and then disappeared; visitors also report phantom musket fire and figures among the rocks.
