OVERVIEW

A pioneer settlement founded in 1859 along the Virgin River near Zion National Park, repeatedly flooded and eventually abandoned; its restored schoolhouse, homes, and cemetery are preserved, and it was a filming location for "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid."

REPORTED ACTIVITY

Visitors report apparitions and unexplained sounds around the schoolhouse and the pioneer cemetery, where many died young from flooding and illness.

VISITING

Open to the public as a preserved historic site.
