OVERVIEW

A small 18th-century burial ground on Upson Road, formally the Seventh Day Baptist Cemetery, associated in local legend with Elisabeth Palmiter, said to have drowned in a nearby swamp around 1800 while searching for her husband during a storm.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

Generations of local visitors describe seeing a luminous woman in a flowing green gown moving among the headstones, sometimes accompanied by a green mist, before she vanishes; the legend has made the site one of the best-known ghost stories in the Farmington Valley.

VISITING
