OVERVIEW
A four-story Victorian mansion on Summit Avenue built in 1883 for Civil War veteran and wholesale grocer Chauncey Griggs; over the years it has served as an art school, apartments, and a private home.
REPORTED ACTIVITY
Local tradition centers on a maid said to have died on the fourth-floor landing; a 1969 séance attended by St. Paul Pioneer Press reporters produced footsteps and knocks the reporters said they could not explain. The house is privately owned.
VISITING
A private residence — viewable only from the public street; not open to visitors.
