The national north-western hospital in San Pedro Sula, the largest public hospital in Honduras, opened in 1990 and chronically overcrowded. It is a working hospital and is on this map only because of one documented episode.
HISTORY
Named for a Honduran surgeon; expanded repeatedly since opening.
REPORTED ACTIVITY
In May 2016 a mobile-phone video shot inside the hospital — a translucent figure moving along a corridor, said to have been filmed by a nurse — was reported by the Houston Chronicle, Click2Houston and others and shared widely in Honduras. No explanation was published; no investigation is on record. The clip is the report; the hospital has said nothing about it.
