OVERVIEW

Built around 1829 and later moved to Duval Street, this is the oldest house in Key West and southern Florida; for decades it was home to wrecking captain Francis Watlington, his wife Emeline, and their seven daughters, and it now operates as a museum of the shipwreck-salvage trade.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

Reports describe an apparition believed to be Captain Watlington; a portrait of Emeline in the foyer is often cited by visitors and psychics as a focus of activity.

VISITING

Open to the public as a museum with gardens.
