OVERVIEW
A stone castle built 1897–1899 by railroad president Benjamin Ames Kimball, modeled on a castle he saw on the Rhine River; long abandoned and stripped by vandals, the surrounding land is now a town nature preserve on Lockes Hill.
REPORTED ACTIVITY
Visitors report a glowing white figure of a woman in the windows and on the grounds, and lights seen after dark despite the building having no electricity.
VISITING
The castle itself is posted against trespassing; the surrounding preserve has public trails.
