DIRECTIONS →OVERVIEW
Harbor Island Inc. worker Harold Dahl reported watching six doughnut-shaped aircraft over the waters off Maury Island on June 21, 1947, days before the Kenneth Arnold sighting popularized the term "flying saucer."
REPORTED ACTIVITY
Dahl claimed debris from one object damaged his boat, injured his son, and killed his dog, and later described being warned off by a mysterious "man in black"; the case was investigated by Army Air Forces officers whose plane crashed en route, and the FBI ultimately concluded the report was a hoax, though it remains a foundational and heavily debated case in American UFO lore.
VISITING
The shoreline is accessible via public parks on Maury Island; no formal site marker exists.
