DIRECTIONS →OVERVIEW
A 48-kilometre lake running from Magog, Quebec south to Newport, Vermont; its name comes from an Algonquian term for "large expanse of waters." Indigenous accounts warning against swimming predate the first settler reports of the early nineteenth century.
REPORTED ACTIVITY
More than two hundred people have reported the creature, most describing a long dark reptilian form at or near the surface. It was named by Magog dracontologist Jacques Boisvert, who styled himself its ambassador, and has appeared on a Canadian commemorative coin.
VISITING
The lake is publicly accessible from Magog and along both shores.
