OVERVIEW
Nevada City sprang up alongside Virginia City during the 1863 Alder Gulch gold rush. Largely abandoned, it was rebuilt from the 1940s by Charles and Sue Bovey using relocated historic Montana buildings, and today operates as one of the largest open-air history museums in the region.
REPORTED ACTIVITY
Caretakers and visitors report footsteps, voices, and figures among the relocated buildings, particularly after closing hours.
VISITING
Open seasonally to the public as a living-history town.
