OVERVIEW

The Old Montana Prison held the state's inmates from 1871 until 1979, when operations moved to a new facility. Its stone cell blocks and towers were the scene of a major 1959 riot; today the walled complex houses several museums, including a large automobile collection.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

Visitors and staff report cold spots, shadow figures, and unexplained sounds in the cell blocks and isolation areas; the site runs paranormal-themed tours each October.

VISITING

Open to the public for guided and self-guided tours.
