Old State House
FOLLOWHartford, CT
DIRECTIONS →OVERVIEW
Completed in 1796 and designed by Charles Bulfinch, the Old State House served as Connecticut's seat of government for over a century and once housed a "museum of curiosities" opened by Reverend Joseph Steward; it now operates as a public museum.
REPORTED ACTIVITY
A 2009 investigation by a national paranormal television crew documented an unexplained doorknob turning in the empty Senate chamber and a sighing sound in the old museum room; staff and visitors have long attributed such activity to the lingering presence of Steward and other 18th-century occupants.
VISITING
Open to the public as a museum with regular hours.
