OVERVIEW

A National Historic Landmark built in 1698-1699 for Wilmington's Swedish congregation, regarded as one of the oldest churches in the country still standing largely as originally built; its adjoining burial ground has been in use since the 1630s and holds an estimated 8,000 burials.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

Visitors and tour operators describe glimpsed figures and unexplained sounds among the centuries-old headstones, and the churchyard is a regular stop on Wilmington-area ghost walks.
