OVERVIEW

Built in 1751 in Bath, North Carolina's first incorporated town, the Palmer-Marsh House is among the oldest surviving structures in the state and is maintained as part of Historic Bath State Historic Site.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

Bath's waterfront is long associated with the pirate Blackbeard, who used the town as a base before his death in 1718; the Palmer-Marsh House itself carries local reports of an unexplained figure inside, sometimes linked in town lore to Grace Sherwood, the "Witch of Pungo."

VISITING

Open to the public through Historic Bath State Historic Site, with seasonal tours.
