OVERVIEW

Opened in 1911 as the McKenzie Hotel and later the Patterson, this ten-story downtown landmark was a center of political dealing, Prohibition-era liquor, and gambling; the ground floor is now the Peacock Alley Bar & Grill.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

Guests and staff report the sounds of a phantom party and band on the unused eighth floor, glasses and plates rearranged by unseen hands, and disembodied voices in the empty restaurant.

VISITING

The restaurant is open to the public; upper floors are private.
