OVERVIEW

Owned since its construction by the Carpenters' Company of the City and County of Philadelphia, the hall hosted the First Continental Congress in 1774 and later housed the First Bank and other institutions; it remains an operating guild hall and museum.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

Staff and visitors report footsteps, cold spots, and apparitions; local lore also ties the building to the 1798 Bank of Pennsylvania robbery and the wrongly jailed blacksmith Patrick Lyon.

VISITING

Open to the public as a free museum.
