DIRECTIONS →OVERVIEW
Built in 1773, City Tavern was a gathering place for delegates to the Continental Congress; the original was damaged by fire in 1834 and demolished in 1854, and the current building is a faithful reconstruction completed for the 1976 Bicentennial.
REPORTED ACTIVITY
Legend tells of a bride said to have died in the 1834 fire, reportedly seen in a wedding gown on the second floor, and of a waiter killed in a duel; staff have reported moving tableware and rattling silverware.
