OVERVIEW

Built as the Pennsylvania State House, this Georgian landmark hosted the Second Continental Congress, the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, and the drafting of the U.S. Constitution in 1787; it is now the centerpiece of Independence National Historical Park.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

Guards and visitors have long reported apparitions in period dress in the Assembly Room and stairwells, with sightings often described as resembling Benjamin Franklin or other figures of the founding era.
