OVERVIEW

The elegant townhouse of Samuel Powel, the last colonial and first post-Revolution mayor of Philadelphia, who entertained Washington, Adams, and Lafayette; it was saved from demolition in the 1930s and preserved as a house museum.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

The most-reported spirit is a woman in a cream-and-purple gown, often said to be Peggy Shippen; guests and guides also describe Continental Army figures on the staircase.
