OVERVIEW

A man-made sandstone cave in southwest Lincoln, cut into a bluff the Pawnee knew as Pahuk; brewers excavated it from 1869 for beer storage, and it later gathered legends as a hideout and gathering place before being sealed for decades and reopened for tours.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

Its proximity to the former penitentiary and asylum fed long-running haunting stories; tour guests report cold spots, voices, and shadow figures in the deeper chambers.

VISITING

Open to the public by guided tour.
