DIRECTIONS →OVERVIEW
An English-style country estate built between 1851 and 1854 for merchant banker Joseph Shipley, later home to his Shipley and Bringhurst descendants, willed to New Castle County in 1973 and opened as a public park and museum.
REPORTED ACTIVITY
Paranormal investigators have documented cold spots, disembodied voices, and the sound of children playing on the property, and the museum runs a seasonal "Paranormal Season" of lantern tours and ghost investigations built around the family's long occupancy of the house.
VISITING
Open to the public as a museum within Rockwood Park, with regular house tours and evening paranormal events.
