DIRECTIONS →OVERVIEW
A primitive Greek Revival house built in the 1840s by Robert Sheegog, later restored and occupied by novelist William Faulkner from 1930 until his death in 1962; a handwritten outline for one of his novels remains preserved on an office wall.
REPORTED ACTIVITY
Staff and visitors report sensing Faulkner's presence in his office and on the grounds; a long-told local legend of a heartbroken daughter of the original owner is understood to have originated as a ghost story Faulkner told his own family.
VISITING
Open to the public as a historic house museum operated by the University of Mississippi.
