OVERVIEW

Lyceum Hall was built in 1831 on land that had been the orchard of Bridget Bishop, the first person executed in the 1692 trials. The hall hosted lecturers including Frederick Douglass and Alexander Graham Bell, who placed one of the first long-distance telephone calls from here in 1877. The building now houses Turner's Seafood restaurant.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

Staff and diners report the smell of apples with no source, a woman's reflection in mirrors, and cold drafts, lore often linked to Bishop.

VISITING

Open to the public as a restaurant.
