OVERVIEW
A granite jail built between 1811 and 1813 on St. Peter Street to replace the earlier wooden jail that had held those accused in 1692. It housed inmates until 1991 and sat abandoned for years before being redeveloped into apartments and a restaurant around 2010, with a small museum preserving its history.
REPORTED ACTIVITY
During its abandonment, passersby and urban explorers reported screams, moving lights, and dark figures in the empty cellblock; the reputation persists.
VISITING
Now private residences; the exterior is visible from the street.
