The Bigfoot Trap
FOLLOWApplegate, OR
DIRECTIONS →OVERVIEW
A wooden box trap built in 1974 under a U.S. Forest Service permit near Applegate Lake in the Rogue River–Siskiyou National Forest, after a miner reported large footprints; it is regarded as the only Bigfoot trap ever constructed.
REPORTED ACTIVITY
Baited for roughly six years, it caught only bears before being abandoned; Sasquatch sightings have long been reported across the surrounding forests of southern Oregon.
VISITING
Now maintained as a novelty along the Collings Mountain trail, open to hikers.
