OVERVIEW

One of the largest city-owned cemeteries in the U.S., established in 1849, holding pioneers, church leaders, and public figures. It contains the mausoleum of brewer Jacob Moritz — locally nicknamed "Emo" — and the widely-photographed headstone of Lilly E. Gray reading "Victim of the Beast 666."

REPORTED ACTIVITY

Local legend holds that chanting a name at the Moritz mausoleum reveals glowing eyes; visitors report unease and unexplained activity around several graves.
