OVERVIEW

One of the oldest structures on the Jersey Shore, it operated as a tavern during the Revolution and reputedly relayed British troop talk to colonial forces, earning the "Spy House" name; it is now the Bayshore Waterfront Park activity center.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

Popularized in the late 20th century as intensely haunted, with reports of doors moving, footsteps, and apparitions; historians note much of the lore was embellished, though the reputation endures.

VISITING

Open to the public as a Monmouth County park facility.
