DIRECTIONS →OVERVIEW
On November 11, 1811, forces led by Indiana Territory Governor William Henry Harrison repelled a surprise attack near Prophetstown by warriors of Tecumseh's confederacy, led in his absence by his brother Tenskwatawa; the site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
REPORTED ACTIVITY
Visitors describe an oppressive or watched feeling on the grounds, and local legend holds that Tenskwatawa cursed Harrison to die in office after his defeat, a story often linked to the deaths of later presidents elected in years ending in zero.
