OVERVIEW
One of Maine's oldest light stations, built in 1808 at Thomas Jefferson's direction on an island off Biddeford Pool; on June 1, 1896, islander Howard Hobbs shot his landlord, Fred Milliken, and then killed himself in his nearby shack.
REPORTED ACTIVITY
Keepers and investigators, including a 2005 New England Ghost Project survey, have reported moans from the old shack site, shadow figures, and an encounter with a male apparition in a bedroom closet, popularly linked to Hobbs and Milliken.
