OVERVIEW

One of the oldest surviving homes in Kansas City, this 1858 Greek Revival house was commandeered as a field hospital during the 1864 Battle of Westport, treating wounded from both armies; it has been a museum since 1964.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

Staff and visitors report the smell of pipe tobacco, heavy footsteps, and figures at the windows, often linked to the wounded soldiers and to Eliza Wornall, who died young during the war.

VISITING

Open to the public as a museum, with living-history and ghost tours.
