THE OBJECT
Belcourt Castle (1894) in Newport, Rhode Island, was owned from 1956 by the Tinney family, who filled it with European antiques. Harle Tinney's 'The Ghosts of Belcourt Castle' describes spirits attached to pieces in the collection — a suit of armour, a German carving of a monk. The house and contents were sold in 2012.
REPORTED ACTIVITY
LEGEND. Haunted chairs at Belcourt are repeated online, but no account of a particular chair has been found; the published stories (Tinney's book; Ghost Hunters, season 5) are about the armour, the monk carving and other antiques. The entry keeps the chairs' name so the lead isn't chased again, and records what the sources do say.
