THE OBJECT
An antique wooden rocking chair from the home of the Glatzel family in Brookfield, Connecticut, where in 1980 eleven-year-old David Glatzel's family, the Warrens and a Catholic priest conducted what they described as exorcisms; the case led to Arne Cheyenne Johnson's 1981 murder trial and the book The Devil in Connecticut. Carl Glatzel Jr. sold the chair to Zak Bagans in April 2019 (about $67,000, per TMZ) for The Haunted Museum in Las Vegas.
REPORTED ACTIVITY
The family said David was thrown about in the chair and that it rocked on its own. Bagans opened the chair as an exhibit at the end of April 2019 and closed it within weeks after, he said, several visitors wept uncontrollably and one collapsed on the stairs above it (Newsweek, June 2019). Whether the exhibit has since reopened is not confirmed in the sources used.
