THE OBJECT

A set of second-hand bunk beds bought in February 1987 for the daughters of Allen and Deborah Tallman of Horicon, Wisconsin. The family left the house on 11 January 1988 and, that February, had the beds taken to a landfill at an undisclosed site so that they could never be used again. Nothing of them survives.

REPORTED ACTIVITY

The family reported a radio changing stations, a child seeing an old woman, voices, and apparitions of fire, and their pastor blessed the house. The case ran in the Milwaukee Sentinel (James B. Nelson), UPI (19 Feb 1988) and an Unsolved Mysteries segment first broadcast 26 October 1988. Neighbours and the town were sceptical; the Tallmans never changed their account.
