PRIVACY POLICY

1. OVERVIEW

This Privacy Policy explains what information ODPSI collects through the PR|FIS app and the ODPSI web platform (the "Service"), how we use it, and the choices you have. We collect only what we need to operate the Service.

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Account information: your email address and optional display name.

Profile picture (optional): if you add one on your Account page, it is cropped to a square, shrunk, and stored with our hosting provider. It is shown to signed-in members on your profile and in the investigator directory, and it is served from a public web address with a random, unguessable file name, so anyone who is given that address can see it. You can change or remove it at any time from your Account page; removing it deletes the file.

Investigation data you choose to sync: session details, event logs, EMF readings (one a second), EVP audio recordings, and photo/video evidence. Each session and event carries your phone’s clock time and time zone, and — only if you choose one before the session starts — the ODPSI map location it was recorded at (or simply “private place”). This data stays on your device unless you sign in and use cloud backup.

Saved places: the map locations you save with SAVE, kept with your account so you can find them again under MY PLACES. Only you can see your list.

Payment information: subscriptions are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number — Stripe handles payment data under its own privacy terms. We retain limited records such as your subscription status and customer identifier.

Limited technical data necessary to operate and secure the Service.

Advertising data (free tier only): the app and website show ads through Google AdMob and Google AdSense. Google may collect your device's advertising ID, IP address, and cookies or similar identifiers to show, limit and measure ads. We do not give Google your investigations, recordings, or account details.

3. MICROPHONE, CAMERA, SENSOR & LOCATION ACCESS

With your permission, the app uses your device microphone for EVP audio recording, your camera for photo/video evidence, and motion/magnetic sensors for EMF detection. These are used only while you are using the relevant feature. Recordings and sensor data remain on your device and are uploaded only if you enable cloud backup (a paid feature).

Location on the website map: if you press NEAR ME, your browser asks for permission to share your position. It is used only inside your browser to show the closest sites and their distances. It is never sent to ODPSI, stored, or logged.

4. MAPS, SATELLITE VIEW & DIRECTIONS

The map images on the website are loaded by your browser directly from our map providers: CARTO (the standard map) and, for paid members who switch on SATELLITE, Esri (satellite imagery). As with any image on the web, those providers receive your IP address and the map area your browser asks for. ODPSI does not send them your account or any other information about you.

DIRECTIONS opens Google Maps (or Apple Maps on Apple devices) with the coordinates of the location you chose. From that point you are using Google’s or Apple’s service under their own privacy terms. ODPSI does not send them anything about you.

Your choice of MAP or SATELLITE is remembered in your own browser only.

5. HOW WE USE INFORMATION

We use your information to provide and maintain the Service, sync and back up your investigations when you choose, process subscriptions, secure accounts, respond to support requests, and comply with legal obligations.

6. HOW YOUR DATA IS STORED & PROTECTED

Synced data is stored with our infrastructure provider, Supabase. Access is restricted by row-level security so that you can access only your own data. Data is encrypted in transit. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. HOW WE SHARE INFORMATION

We share information only with service providers that help us operate the Service — currently Supabase (hosting and database), Stripe (payments), Google (advertising, free tier only), and CARTO and Esri (map images, as described in section 4) — and only as needed to provide it. We may disclose information if required by law. We do not sell your personal information.

8. DATA RETENTION & DELETION

Local sessions are retained on your device (up to a fixed number of recent sessions). Synced data and saved places are retained while your account is active. You can remove a saved place at any time from the map or MY PLACES. You can delete individual sessions, and you can delete your account and its data at any time from the PR|FIS app (ACCOUNT → DELETE ACCOUNT) or at odpsi.com/delete-account.

9. ADVERTISING & COOKIES

Google and its partners use cookies and device identifiers to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites and apps. You can turn off personalised ads at adssettings.google.com, reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings, and, on iPhone, decline tracking when the app asks. Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalised ads are shown. Paid members are not shown ads.

10. YOUR RIGHTS

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us using the address below.

11. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted with a new effective date.
